Duke's Schnauzers Breeder Mentorship Program

There are many factors that need to be considered when deciding if breeding dogs is right for you. Do you have the time to emerce yourself in the life of breeding, whelping, puppy care, and the education associated with becoming successful? Do you have the motivation, or grit to stay focused during a difficult delivery, or when a puppy becomes sick? Lastly, do you have the heart to always do what’s right for the animals in your care, even if that means making some really hard decisions. While breeding dogs, and raising their amazing puppies can truly be a wonderful experience, it’s not all fluffy snuggles and puppy breathe.

Here at Duke’s Schnauzers, we are committed to changing the industry’s perception of what exactly a professional dog breeder is. There are plenty of backyard breeders, and puppy mills all over the country (many USDA approved), that give breeders a bad name. I’m sure if you thought about it, you could name a horror story or two from a broken-hearted new puppy owner who fell victim to the product of one of these establishments. Perhaps you were one of these unsuspecting victims yourself, just like me.

Sadly, decades of breeding experience, handed down business models, and awards from even the most prestigious breeding shows don’t guarantee an ethical breeder, or program. Discernment must be practiced constantly to determine who is simply looking to make profit, and who truly cares about the well-being, and emotional development of their animals. Duke’s Schnauzers is different, and we are nothing like them! Read that again and let those words sink in for a moment. Only through education, awareness, mentorship, the highest breeding standards, pre-breeding testing, a commitment to ethics, and producing the healthiest puppies possible can we hope to accomplish this goal. If you have found my site and taken an interest in my program, I suspect you may share my beliefs.

Hopefully those of you reading this agree that there is much work that needs to be done in the industry, and you want to be a part of the movement for change. If you are, then friend, you are in the right place, and I cannot wait to speak with you more about this exciting journey you are about to em-BARK on. In order to accomplish this shift in practice, I have developed a one a kind breeder mentorship program with varying levels of membership. There will be an expectation at each level for the breeder protegee to complete the Puppy Culture Program by Jane Killion. In order to properly give your puppies the best emotional and developmental care, it is essential that this program be completed prior to the arrival of your first litter.
